Who we are

The UK Kids Golf core team comprises the Expert Advisory Team made up of some of the top people in the UK involved in all aspects of kids’ golf, its founder Simon Jackson and golf adviser Steve Pope. UK Kids Golf.co.uk is owned by UK Kids Golf Limited a company registered in England and Wales and the objectives of the company are set out below. Operating as a limited company ensures that we run UK Kids Golf efficiently, with probity and transparency. We don't generate any profits for shareholders, pay anyone from the core team and our nominated charity is the Golf Foundation.

UK Kids Golf Founder, Simon Jackson, has been a golfer all his life and has passed that passion on to his son. For the last 10 years, he has been closely involved in junior golf in Cambridgeshire as a volunteer junior manager for the Cambridgeshire Golf Union. He has also been caddie in chief for his son in local, national and international junior golf competitions. It was during this experience in particular that the idea for UK Kids Golf was born.

Simon is supported by Steve Pope.  Steve is also a lifelong golfer and qualified golf course designer, having worked for some of Britain's leading architects. He has also worked in an advisory capacity for the R&A on their European work, with the PGAs of Europe on golf training projects and with the Golf Environment Organisation promoting sustainable golf development.

The core team is added to when required by specialists and notably the web design and programming team at Freetimers Communications.

Our objectives

The sole purpose of UK Kids Golf is working to get boys and girls playing and enjoying golf by providing:

  1. An opportunity for boys and girls under the age of 14 to play golf in a fun, competitive environment on good quality courses
  2. Motivation for kids to try golf
  3. Advice for parents and guardians on how to support young golfers
  4. Generate funding for organisations that share UK Kids Golf objectives including the Golf Foundation and County Golf Partnerships or their equivalent.

What happens to the revenue we receive from membership and competition fees?

One of the barriers faced by some parents/guardians in introducing children to golf is the cost of participation. At UK Kids Golf one of our key aims is to keep this cost as affordable as possible and so the cost of participation in UK Kids Golf competitions is simply based upon recovering the cost of providing the service and not to generate profit for UK Kids Golf Limited.

We currently charge £5 for an adult to join UK Kids Golf and £10 to enter a qualifying competition. These fees go to covering the following costs of providing the service:

Every £10 competition fee = £5 goes to the host venue, £3 (averaged) on player certificates & medals, £1 County Golf Partnership (or equivalent) and £1 (averaged) on postage for certificates & medals, printing of flyers & posters, website costs, marketing and the fees payment processor (Paypal),

Every £5 membership fee = on the UK Kids Golf website, accountancy, legal, telephone, paper, printer inks & to the fees payment processor (Paypal).

We can only offer our service to you due in no small measure to the fantastic generosity of all the UK Kids Golf competition courses. Please support all our competition courses and all the staff who make the UK Kids Golf competitions such great occasions.
